Fierce Feedback and Tough Love

Out of respect for our most valuable resource, no employee should be surprised when they are terminated for a long-term issue or behavior. A supervisor has a duty to employees and the organization to communicate about problematic topics before they morph into bigger problems or cause others to leave. Have you ever felt dread or uneasiness about a "confrontation" you need to have with an employee? What if you could reframe the confrontation as respectful feedback? If you want to be more at ease planning and conducting all kinds of conversations with employees, or if you are challenged by mediating disagreements between coworkers, this is your chance to increase your success. Develop a plan to address employee behaviors, while building the relationship and retaining the employee. This session will include example stories, humor, exercises, and a handout with suggested reading material, videos, and tips. You will leave knowing how to successfully follow up conversation to ensure the changes “stick”. Hear from a seasoned people manager with over 25 years’ experience about navigating these conversations and knowing afterwards you have done what is best for all parties involved.

Biography

Jennifer has worked in all revenue cycle roles from front desk to practice manager and all points in between. She began working in a mental health practice setting, then found her passion in billing and the revenue cycle process. Her medical billing company served many specialties for 24 years including DME, gynecology, hospitalist care, infectious disease, neonatology, pediatrics, primary care, prosthetics, radiology and orthopedics. Jennifer has taught coding and billing classes, and consulted on collections and practice management issues. Her current work as a Director at OrthoTennessee focuses on continuous improvement, training, standard processes, and collaborative management.
