Demystifying Private Equity: A roundtable discussion

Co-hosted by Andrew Carlson of Bluegrass Orthopedics and Jarett Landman of Spire Orthopedic Partners, and supported by physicians from each practice, we will dive into the nuts and bolts of alignment with a private equity partner and its impacts on clinical and administrative functions. Having perspective from physicians and executives alike, this session will allow for a transparent look behind what has been considered a scary proposition: engaging with wall street to consolidate quality healthcare groups. We will discuss the advantanges and disadvantages of the model, and promote questions from the audience to get real life perspective on what a M&A process is like from the inside.

Andrew, originally from Sturbridge, MA, now resides in the beautiful horse country of central Kentucky with his wife Paige and daughter Chloe. He is a proud Penn State and University of Kentucky alum. Andrew is a Business Development Executive in the healthcare space who has built and managed healthcare practices to drive market share and profitability. He splits his time between Bluegrass Orthopaedics and its MSO Growth Orthopedics. He has expertise in healthcare marketing, growth initiatives, physician recruitment and ancillary growth. He has proven success in presenting and identifying methods to improve profitability and patient satisfaction.

Jarett Landman is the Vice President of Operations for Spire Orthopedic Partners, a growing, PE backed orthopedic platform with affiliates in New York, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. Leading the Massachusetts market, Mr. Landman has been influential in managing business strategy, operations, and integration for Sports Medicine North, The Orthopedic Surgical Center of the North Shore, and Orthopedic Surgical Associates, all high performing groups within the network. With Master's degrees from both Boston University MBA program and Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine PA program, Mr. Landman has a unique understanding of the clinical and administrative hurdles facing Orthopedic practices.
